BSFI & INNOVATION
Pioneering India's Paralympic Boccia movement, engineering the indigenous ICMR–IIT Madras BC3 Assistive Ramp, and elevating severely disabled athletes to the world stage.
Bringing Paralympic Boccia to Every Indian State
Founded by Jaspreet Singh Dhaliwal in 2016 as the Para Boccia Sports Welfare Society and recognized globally as the Boccia Sports Federation of India (BSFI), our mission is to bring the Paralympic precision sport of Boccia to every individual in India living with quadriplegia, severe cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and catastrophic spinal cord trauma. Starting from zero domestic awareness and zero equipment, BSFI has built an all-India federation across 20+ states, affiliated with World Boccia (BISFed), the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), MYAS, SAI, and NADA.
Indigenous BC3 Assistive Ramp & Pointers
In Paralympic Boccia, BC3 athletes with severe locomotor dysfunction in all four limbs compete using an assistive ramp and a head or mouth pointer. Because imported ramps cost €2,500 to €5,000 (₹2.5–₹5 Lakh INR), BSFI President Jaspreet Singh Dhaliwal spearheaded a landmark tri-partite engineering collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and IIT Madras. Together, they engineered India’s first World Boccia-compliant, aeronautical-alloy Indigenous BC3 Assistive Ramp—formally handed over to Indian Army Boccia players at ICMR Headquarters in New Delhi in September 2026 alongside DG ICMR Dr. Rajiv Bahl.
Vision 2026–28
Under President Jaspreet Singh Dhaliwal, the Boccia Sports Federation of India (BSFI) is advancing six strategic pillars to institutionalize Paralympic excellence nationwide:
Scale nationwide deployment of the ICMR–IIT Madras Indigenous BC3 Assistive Ramp & custom ergonomic head/mouth pointers across all states.
Expand recognized State Boccia Associations and specialized medical classification hubs across all 28 States and 8 Union Territories.
Conduct high-performance SAI residential coaching camps (IAMD Solan & regional centers) for the Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya.
Accredit Indian referees, classifiers, and coaches through World Boccia (BISFed) international education and certification seminars.
Establish dedicated barrier-free Boccia courts at military spinal injury centers, rehabilitation hospitals, and ALIMCO hubs.
Propel Team India's BC1–BC4 champions to podium triumphs at the 2026 Asian Para Games and Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics.
The Four Pillars of BSFI Excellence
Explore the four cornerstones of India's Paralympic Boccia ecosystem.
Indigenous BC3 Ramp Innovation (ICMR & IIT Madras)
- World Boccia Section 11 Specification: Co-engineered by BSFI, ICMR & IIT Madras featuring an ultra-low-friction polymer chute, micro-adjustable elevation, and aeronautical alloy frame that meets stringent international competition standards.
- Historic Armed Forces Handover: Formally handed over to Indian Army Boccia players at ICMR Headquarters in New Delhi (September 2026) with Secretary DHR & DG ICMR Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Addl. DG Dr. Sanghmitra Pati & Dr. Ravinder Singh.
- Accessible Assistive Ecosystem: Engineered to replace costly €5,000 imports with an affordable, indigenous Indian solution, empowering quadriplegic athletes nationwide.
National Coaching Camps & Rehab Court Infrastructure
- IAMD Solan High-Performance Hub: Residential National Coaching Camps at IAMD Solan (Himachal Pradesh) backed by MYAS & SAI, integrating sports biomechanics, specialized nutrition, and BC3 trajectory analytics.
- ALIMCO Centre Kanpur Court: Dedicated barrier-free Boccia training court inaugurated at ALIMCO Centre Kanpur in honor of BC3 international medalist Sarita Dwivedi.
- Clinical Outreach & SCI Day: Regular Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Day hospital clinics, connecting newly injured citizens and youth with competitive Paralympic opportunities.
World Boccia Podiums & Hall of Fame Champions
